Secure Connection Setup
This system uses a security certificate that it created itself (a self-signed certificate).
Your phone or computer does not know it yet, which is why your browser shows a security warning.
Installing the certificate once tells your device to trust this system — after that the
warning goes away and the padlock appears.
On iPhone and iPad the certificate can only be installed from Safari. Copy the link below and open it in Safari.
Tap Download Certificate. Safari asks “This website is trying to download a configuration profile” — tap Allow, then Close.
Open the Settings app. Near the top tap Profile Downloaded(if you don't see it: Settings › General › VPN & Device Management). Tap Install (top right), enter your passcode, tap Install again, then Done.
Go to Settings › General › About, scroll to the bottom and tap Certificate Trust Settings. Turn ON the switch next to the certificate and tap Continue.
Close Safari completely and open it again. Go to — the warning is gone.
Tap Download Certificate. If the browser asks for permission to download, tap Allow / Download. The file ViewCommander-Certificate.crt is saved to your Downloads.
Open Settings and search for “certificate”, then choose Install a certificate (or Install from storage) › CA certificate. (Typical path: Settings › Security & privacy › More security settings › Install from device storage. Samsung: Settings › Security and privacy › Other security settings › Install from device storage.)
Tap Install anyway, unlock your phone, and pick ViewCommander-Certificate.crt from Downloads.
Close Chrome and open it again. Go to — the warning is gone.
Note: Chrome and most browsers will trust the certificate. A few apps ignore user-installed certificates — that is normal.
Click Download Certificate. The file ViewCommander-Certificate.crt is saved to your Downloads folder.
Double-click the downloaded file. Keychain Access opens and adds the certificate to your login keychain (enter your Mac password if asked).
In Keychain Access, find the certificate (use the search box), double-click it, open the Trust section and set When using this certificate to Always Trust. Close the window and enter your password to save.
Quit and reopen Safari or Chrome. Go to — the warning is gone.
Click Download Certificate, then open the downloaded file ViewCommander-Certificate.crt (it is in your Downloads folder).
Click Install Certificate…. Choose Current User (or Local Machine to install it for everyone on this PC) and click Next.
Choose Place all certificates in the following store, click Browse…, select Trusted Root Certification Authorities, click OK, Next, then Finish. Click Yes on the security warning.
Close all browser windows and open the browser again. Go to — the warning is gone.
Firefox uses its own certificate list: Firefox Settings › Privacy & Security › Certificates › View Certificates › Authorities › Import…, select the file and tick “Trust this CA to identify websites”.
